The
Big Screen TV - 2
Watching the ancient big screen
TV is a chore at our house. If you want to watch a DVD you have to get
all three of the remotes lined up. One for the TV (ironically this is
a “universal remote", which apparently means it only works in THIS universe
on THAT TV), the sound system remote and the DVD player remote.
But more annoying is the location
and intensity of lights in the house. Because this is an ancient TV you
cannot have lights on in front of the TV because the technology of a non-glare
screen existed everywhere EXCEPT for the TV making industry at the time
this thing was built. You can’t see what is on the TV, but you can see
the lights in the kitchen really well and people walking around and making
popcorn in the microwave, etc.
However, no one in our living
situation can comprehend turning off the lights when the TV is on, except
for when it is them watching the TV then they understand it very well.
So the house is full of people yelling at other people to turn off the
lights so that they can watch TV and then people yelling back that they
are trying to get crushed ice out of the ice maker, and they can’t do
it in the dark.
As you may know, our dogs watch
TV also. They only watch so they can go into uncontrollable barking spasms
when another animal is on the screens. The dogs alone are the only people
in the house not yelling about the lights on the same time the TV is on.
