The
Government Threatens Freaknoid... again
The government
of these United States has once again plotted against Freaknoid to
deprive him of his "pursuit of happiness". After paying
Freaknoid for over two years money due him they are now reneging on
the deal they struck and asking for repayment or Freaknoid could once
again face jail time.
It
isn't fair.
Freaknoid
signed up for a government program wherein he would agree to not
plant corn, wheat, soybeans or other crops of high value on 200
acres of land and in turn the government would pay Freaknoid a monthly
amount. It was a fair deal and one that the government has stuck
with many people.
Now
the government is saying that Freaknoid should own the land on which
he has agreed to not plant crops. This makes no sense at all. Why
can't Freaknoid, you or I or anyone agree to not plant crops and get
paid for agreeing not to do so. To say we have to own land to agree
not to plant crops reminds Freaknoid of ancient times when only landowners
had rights. (This is only a vague memory and is subject to correction
by others who may have been more awake during this (history?) class.)
Freaknoid
is however willing to let the government off the hook in exchange
for a new deal. There is a government program where people who don't
work get paid to not work. In settlement of the justified claims
listed above Freaknoid is willing to let by gones be by gones, to turn
a blind eye, to forget the whole thing, to let the past be the past,
bury the hatchet, consider it water under the bridge, and will accept
ongoing monthly payment for not working.
Technically
speaking Freaknoid does have a job, but anyone can ask his mail room
supervisor and be assured that any work done is by pure accident.
And therefore while Freaknoid's situation not be in the legal definition
of the "letter of the law" it is certainly in the "Sprit
of the law" which aims at paying people not to work.
So
you are on notice that this could happen to you. If you are involved
with a government program to not do something, not work, not plant
crops, not produce milk, etc. the government has very strange rules
and may attempt to impose them on you.
